How does Mediation work?
Róisín employs a Trauma-Informed approach in her mediation practice, recognising that individuals seeking mediation are often deeply affected by the conflicts they face. She provides tailored, expert support to help clients navigate these challenges, fostering resolution and building a foundation for future stability.
The Coast Mediation and Consultancy Process follows a very simple formula, regardless of the type of conflict/issue that is present. Each Mediation begins with a phonecall with the Mediator (Róisín) where she will talk through the her role and hear some brief information about the case. After that, every Mediation Process follows 4 Stages:
Stage 1: Pre-Mediation Sessions
Róisín will meet with each party individually to understand how the conflict has impacted them and to learn what each person hopes to achieve through the mediation process.
Stage 2: Joint Session- Understanding the Issues
All parties will come together for a joint session (possibly more than one). Róisín will guide the session, allowing each person to share their experiences and viewpoints with the other. At this point, the goal is not to reach an agreement, but to clarify and understand each person's perspective.
Stage 3: Option Development
This stage involves being open to and considering all possible options that may help in addressing the conflict issues. Róisín will expertly facilitate the session ,focusing on key issues and helping the parties to explore and develop solutions that best suits their individual needs.
Stage 4: Reaching Agreement
The reaching agreement stage is where both parties, with Róisín's help, work together to reach a final solution. They review options, negotiate details, and finalise an agreement. Once both sides are satisfied, the agreement is written down and can be made legally binding if needed. The goal is to create a fair resolution for everyone involved.
